Bank of India has strived to excel in banking services to the rural and backward populations of India. As an extension of its initiatives to help the farming sector of the country, it has come up with the Bank of India schemes for farmers, across a range of products for meeting their financial and farming needs.

Starting in the 1980s, Bank of India had come up with Indian Green Card for the benefit of Indian farmers. Thereafter, such facilities were extended for many other banks in the countries. But, to be in the forefront of its aim of helping the rural farmers, Bank of India further planned initiatives like Kisan Suvidha Card, Kisan Samadhan Card and Kisan Gold Card. These were aimed to provide production credit, emergency loans, consumption credit and investment credits for farmers, for a period of 3 to 5 years.

Since, most of the banking activities are nowadays possible to be carried out through internet banking facilities, professing the concept of anywhere, anytime banking, the Krishi Vikas Card of Bank of India was launched.
