e Filing of Tax to be Easier with Inclusion of Aadhaar

The tax payers who file their IT return online will soon get relief from sending the physical copy of ITR-V to IT Department. The Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Rule making body for Income Tax has submitted the blue print to the government to do away with physical confirmation of filing e-returns. Capturing the One Time Passwords (OTP), net banking credentials and seeding Aadhar card into the e-filing will be introduced shortly for Customer Verification System.

The salaried class of people will have to verify the mobile number to confirm filing their income tax return, since the department views this class as less risky. The high risk class such as business people and corporate, will have to verify their IT returns through net banking mode. E-Filed Returns with Aadhar Card will reduce the burden on tax payers from printing the ITR-V form, sending the same through Indian post only and awaiting the acknowledgement from Department. The citizens were facing difficulty wherein they confirm sending the same through post while the Department has not received it.

Once approved, doing away of the process of sending ITR-V will computerize the existing system of e-filing with the Income Tax Department. E-Filed Returns with Aadhar Card will make the process hassle free for users. This is an extension of the Departmental action of adding a new column of tax payers’ mobile number in the ITR form, which has seen good response. With this Customer Verification System users were updated on timely basis about their tax issues.
